Winona State University

Winona State University and the WSU Art Department are excited to host Rockwell Kent Prints: Selections from the Ralf Nemec Collection, February 6 – 27, in Watkins Gallery. The exhibit includes many of Kent’s best-known fine art prints, including wood engravings, etchings and lithographs. Kent’s often symbolic use of the figure is highlighted. The selection of prints in the WSU exhibit is complemented by the concurrent Saint Mary’s University exhibition, also drawn from the Nemec Collection. Between the two university gallery exhibitions, a large number of Kent’s prints will be on view for visitors, including examples from most of his major bodies of work. We are grateful to Kent collector Ralf Nemec of Long Island, who has loaned the Kent prints to both institutions from his extensive collection.

The opening reception is on Wednesday, February 6, from 4 to 5pm, and is part of the Progressive Reception and Opening Ceremony of the Rockwell Kent Festival. Ralf Nemec will present a Gallery Talk about his Kent collection at 4:30 pm. This is a rare opportunity to hear a collector's perspective. The reception, Gallery Talk, and exhibition are free and open to the public.

Watkins Gallery is located in Watkins Hall, King and Winona Streets, on the WSU campus. Gallery hours are 8 am – 4 pm M – F, and 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday, Feb. 9.
